Yes they worked a morning in bad weather but then it was fine. Let me remind you all that everyone takes a job and they chose that field, nobody forced them to work there so they are probably quite content and they get paid well too. I am not complaining because i can't watch soaps or I can't play on facebook. I lost power for 50 hours and right up until then NL Power had not given us any truths. Being told it would back before days ends on Tuesday then Wednesday. And every other call, they would tell me that power was available on my street, I was an isolated incident then I would tell them that that was wrong, there was probably 150 homes without power. There was a lack of communication from the higher ups who weren't telling the truth to those people answering phones. I lost food, yes and I had to try and entertain kids and keep them happy in the dark while they were trying to get to sleep without a nightlight. I felt sorry for elderly people or those people with small babies. People who don't have the means to replace their losses who those who couldn't get outside to BBQ, use a coleman stove or simply go to a restaurant. Not everyone has the money to just go buy a generator. A lot of working do live hand t mouth, don't get paid enough and can't find a better job. So all of you nasty people who get mad at us for complaining, take a second and think about how difficult it is to have power gone for an extended period of time, not an hour or 12 hours, you just don't know what you are talking about. The outage site was never really updated, they took off outages once restored but gave up adding outages; perhaps a PR stunt to make themselves look glorious. NL Power is not to be commended, the people on poles yes but not any other part of the huge company. Not to mention that yes it was a storm but what about we get a category 1 hurricane or worse or a snow storm that knocks out power? We will really be in trouble!

I get really annoyed when every time Mother Nature takes a swipe at us and does incredible damage some people bitch and complain that it's not getting fixed fast enough.
Guess what people, it takes time for those people trying to effect repairs to get it done. Give it a break, shut up and give them credit. Sometimes I'm amazed at how fast the repairs get done. If it takes longer than we think it should we're usually wrong because we have no idea what's involved.

to be complaining because the power is out don't get ya anywhere i learned that one last night after 10 minutes of being upset i realized the men and women at NL power are working as fast as they can to restore the power, for those still without power call a friend or a relative and go over they're house and spend a hour or two with them it makes the time go faster. to the linesmen at NL power you guys did a great job and are still doing a great job, hats off to SJRFD and the RNC for a great job in yesterday's storm the emergency workers, NL Power and Rogers and Aliant did a wonderful job in yesterdays storm...

These men and women are doing the best they can to get everything back working. This is not something that can be rushed due to the danger of electricity. If this was in other parts of North America it wouldn't be getting done as fast. Hats off to you guys.

Thank you! :
Its easy to be critical... but please consider that the STRFD and the RNC and NL power and ROGERS and ALIANT and all the others who have to deal with Down poles, fires, car accidents (mostly because nobody in this city knows how to drive when the lights are gone, or when they are working for that matter) are working 12-18 hours straight putting themselves in great danger. Everybody needs to calm down, relax and wait for your turn. I sat in the dark for quite some time before the power was restored, and it didn't mean a row of beans. It's not cold, we have candles, and it was 1 day of thousands we have reliable services.
***THANK YOU to the RNC and St. John's Regional, and to NL POWER****
you are VERY appreciated for the difficult work you do and the challenges you no doubt faced yesterday.

Steve :
Doubtless the crews are doing a great job but don't believe what you read on Newfoundland Power's Outages Page. Highland Drive was taken off the page mid-morning and the power was still out there at 12:30.

The Truth :
It's easy for some people to sit at his/her computer and spew a hyperbole laden rant with the comfort of having electricity. What about people who will lose hundreds of dollars worth of frozen food? Facebook is the least of their problems, but you clearly do not have to worry about that since you have electricity. Get off your self-righteous horse and use your brain before spewing such ill thought out garbage towards the people unlucky enough to still be without power.

Great job NL Power crews. It's easy to sit inside complaining we have no electricity. I can only imagine how difficult it must be trying to restore power after so much devastation. Appreciate your efforts.
