Has been proven :

It all ready has been proven before. We need more security, it just goes to show how vunerable we are. Im sure the the experts know what their doing. I hope they soon get to the bottom of all this. That all we wants in our head over the next five, six years. Everyone speculating on where it went it. Oh my that will be on onpen line for next 10 years if they dont find it.

Its gone boys its gone :

Well to ease the public maybe the should hide some dinamite and say they found it and forget about it. That should be easier for police and government to pull of than finding this. Its to late boys its gone and the ones that got it is keeping it just to keep ye all scared. Even if they never use it or had planed to use.

Spread out :

well its like this If they stole the blasting machine and went back and took the risk of getting caught and take the risk of a hefty jail time. Most criminals would tell you thats a pretty high risk. They had a plan for something. Weather it was for fishing or not. I dont know but im sure theres many that might want to buy it. If thats the case it might not even be in NFLD. Has their been any reports of diamite being stolen in other parts of the country and you sure he used all the diamite he reported using. This is not a NFLD essue any more. This is one of these situation your going to need help from criminls. Cops don't know anything about whats going on around them. Ask and you might recive. Tell it shows up some where keep looking you might get lucky.

JTF :

these guys new exactly what they were there for, where it was and how to access it, these wernt some teens looking to steel something, they noticed the lack of security and stole the items.
This is serious and cant be taken lightly...WHEN they are caught they get what...theft under 5000 and 30 days in jail.
I hope they do the right thing for once and bring this stuff back...if not..we got problems

Dave :

What a pile of fear-mongering on part of the police. The RNC are trying to get the crooks to give back the dynamite with fear. Why don't they use some police work? Oh ya, they are the RNC... carry on

Please Return :

Please God let this be found and no one innocent hurt in the process.

Sam :

how could this be so easy to steel, major problem

Posted: 8/30/2012 9:36:59 AM
This IS SERIOUS!!!!!!! :

I hope this has nothing to do with those pipe bombs they found in wedge wood park. I am very worried, I don't even feel safe in my house. Though my neighbours are all great and I highly doubt if any of them have the dynamite in there houses, you never know! It's just so scary to know that this is on the streets and we have no idea the capabilities of the person or people who have it. I pray for the safe return of this and I pray that no one gets hurt.

Sulv :

Does the RNC have any bomb sniffing K-9 units? If so, take them to the site and let them sniff out the place and the people that work there. Maybe someone who shouldn't smell of dynamite will. Might not work but with a situation such as this it's at least worth a try. Selling dynamite would be risky so I think whoever the thieves are they either don't know exactly what it is they took which would be very bad news, or they do know and intend to use it with a purpose in mind which is an even worse scenario!

Blasting machine no good without dinamite.what gets me that i dont understand, the blasting machine was stolen nobody made a report. That to me sounds like something not right about the ones running it and they where trying to cover up something else.
Some of these constuction sites the only way you can get a job is if you know the local drugdealer. Do anyone know what im talking about?

Robert :

I wonder which bank vault they have in mind?

Andy Dufresne :

So, the sign at the gate says "No dirt bikes or off-road vehicles permitted", yet every evening after closing, and on the weekends, the NL Lunatics (a dirt bike owners' club)parade up and down the hills of crushed stone. Biker goes up, biker goes down. Pretty lame if you ask me, but to each their own I guess. Just *HOW* are these guys continually able to blatantly spit in the face of the company and ride their machines there?

Sherrieo :

There needs to be security..things should not be left out for people to get..it is sad that this has happened..because now is the time for people to be scared..this is serious..adn the Police needs to find these people..it is not a joke anymore..time to return it..Someone knows something..

Mike :

Press Charges & Really, did you see the news clip? The items were stored in huge, locked steel containers, inside another huge, locked steel container. They were separated correctly and the key was secured correctly. The thieves broke into the container & stole the key. They knew the whats & wheres of this one. If not an inside job, definitely a well researched job. I just hope one of the thieves trips or drops a smoke at the right time to let all the innocent folks see a great fireworks display.

Jack :

Who cares? Because if they get caught they will get nothing for it. Just like all of the crime in the city.

Darcy :

So - I own a single shot 12 gauge and have to have it locked up solid and ammo locked up solid in another location and if anything goes missing, I have to report it asap. These guys obviously didn't have their charges and primers well-stored and lost a machine earlier and didn't even report it....this is enough explosives to move close to 30 tons . . . . if this was in the states people would be looking for terrorist groups. Scary business VERY scary and, it seems, due in large part to lack of proper storage....

Haam-ed :

Terror Cell?

Press Charges... :

Can the company be charged with some form of criminal negligence for not having these dangerous items more securely stored?

Posted: 8/29/2012 5:01:25 PM
Wayne P :

So if they have it to use it - bad. If they have now tossed it away because they know what they are dealing with now, still bad. Idiots.

Mb :

All I can say is that I'm petrified now!

Posted: 8/29/2012 11:49:42 AM
Wow, What does this really mean? :

Why would someone need that amount of dynamite? Doesn't anyone have any fear on why this is stolen and what it will be used for? I personally find this very scarey and shutter at the possibilty of how this will be used and against whom. Please God, Karma will prevail and whatever it is used for, innocent people will not be harmed.

Khan :

To comment on what 'Spread out' said, just because it was the only thing taken doesn't necessarily mean it was premeditated or an inside job. I grew up in this area and know that kids hang out in that area all the time on ATV's and pedal bikes, and security is quite laxed there. It could have been something some kids stumbled upon and had taken it. Probably scare them straight once they realized what they actually took.

Just a thought. This is some pretty serious stuff nonetheless, let's hope its recovered with no injuries.

SheldonTwo :

Did the company have security cameras anywhere?? Why was this so easily accessible!!

Posted: 8/29/2012 8:11:01 AM
Oh My :

A definate investigation is required, hopefully all safety protocal was in place by the city, if regulations were bypassed then some accountability must be assumed. People, we are talking about explosives!Do you feel safe now.

Rog :

it is supposed to be stored in explosive proof Dynamite Shelter made of steel lined with wood and sand....almost imposable to get into....i know.

Chris :

Pipe bomb at wedgewood park rec center, stolen dynamite and detinators ....hmmmmm

Posted: 8/29/2012 12:59:02 AM
Darrell :

I agree with what spread out said, they never took anything else and its obvious it is someone who knew exactly where to go to get them. I hope they find them and innocent people do not get hurt or killed because of some stupid idiot or idiots stealing them.
I hope they are recovered soon.

Posted: 8/28/2012 6:38:21 PM
Spread out :

It seems to me they knew what they were looking for cause theirs no mention of anything else stolen. Most likely it was someone that knew it was there or herd someone else speak about it being their. I would check with the ones that work on this site and spread out from there.

Posted: 8/28/2012 5:15:25 PM
Wow :

Well, lets hope the only thing these morons blow up is themselves!

Posted: 8/28/2012 2:39:38 PM
Citizen :

I can't help but wonder if these explosives were securely stored in any kind of theft/tamper proof container or location? Surely there are specific laws regarding the storage of such items!?!

Posted: 8/28/2012 1:45:54 PM
Really? :

wow. really? How did they even steal it in the first place?! You would think that something of that magnitude would certainly be secured a little better..

Posted: 8/28/2012 1:27:22 PM
Scary :

I don't know what is scarier - the fact that someone can walk into a construction site and rob dynamite and detonators or that 25 pounds of explosives are now in the hands of thieves... unbelievable...
