TNR..Trap,Neuter and Return to dump... That's what TNR amounts to by other societies across Canada. Thus they go in search of Water,Food and Shelter. Many are killed by Fox/Bald Eagles,Owls etc.
Hopefully that answers what TNR means..

NLer :
Feral cats that are Trapped Neutered and Retuned do not need to search for food, water and shelter as that is supplied by the caretaker(s). They can lead happy, healthy lives with a little help from humans. TNR is being successfully implemented all over the world, it works and is very cost effective.

Ranger Andy :
This problem exists everywhere across this country and not only Newfoundland.
Other provinces have closed disposal sites for several reasons.
Remaining dumps are overflowing with Ferrell cats. A "T-N-R" program by Provincial or local SPCA does not work. Once the wild cat is spayed or neutered and released, he/she still has to search for a food, water and shelter site.
I submit that a trip , even though considered cruel, across "Rainbow Bridge" would be the correct solution.
There is no immediate solution otherwise. If not addressed immediately, the situation will evolve into a full blown Feline problem and in the end, the cats is the only one who suffers pain and a brutal demise.
Shame on those who fail to provide proper care for those beloved pets.

People should be ashamed....Have your pets fixed.....Lets stop this problem once and for all....all that has to happen is for humans to grow a brain.....and dont give me the "i cant afford it"....you make yourself afford it.
