Its not only pensioners that are the victims of this type of fraud, I have had this happen to me on several different occasions however it is unfortunate that it happened to a senior.

Ultimately, the Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Retail outlets etc should be asking for valid id's every time a check is presented this would greatly eliminate fraud. I know of an incident where a lady changed a check with a man's name on it at a grocery store.
Unfortunately these people do not ever end up getting punished.

Someone wasn't on the ball at the Gas Bar. Has anyone ever heard of Identifying the person who is cashing a cheque.

I don't understand how stores can change cheques without asking for a picture ID.
I see this happening all the time.
If this is what happened in the case, then the store/person who changed the cheque, should be responsible.
