well in this case ...yes the union is running the show...but not for the reasons you speak about....its all about a signed contract(an agreeement between 2 parties) and both parties having to live up to what they agreed to by contract; and its your choice not to join a union but a good hint for you would be to stop taking short -cuts in trying to get to the top and work hard and join a union in a profession; work hard and you will succeed.got a feeling if shoe was on other foot and you lost your job due to some reason/or person not living up to a commitment you would feel different. if you were to learn about the labour movement you find out alot of social networks you enjoy came about because of unions.not everything is perfect about a union contract but it definitely improves all situations in my opinion.

Well Jim, in other words what you are saying is that the union is running the show. That's why so many people can't stand unions, because they only care about their own members.Us non-union guys can live in poverty and work our butts off. But the unions could not care less about us. The real scabs here are the union workers, and the gangster union leaders. Greedy selfish bunch that are free to break the laws and care for nobody but themselves.

Jim of st anth :
al and score need to soak their heads and get a reality check;oci wasn't hurting before or after the strike by the trawlermen;there was a contract in place before the strike and I guess these are the kind of people that thinks its perfectly ok to break contracts.those men that were displaced had a lot of years tied to working for that company and hopefully the scabs go back to where they belong on the unemployment line.only reasoning I agree with these people is on the lines of hard work and loyality to a workplace....exactly what the trawlermen gave oci.

Score :
Score one for OCI. Stand up to the unions and you'll get the realistic results to need to run a viable business.
Good job Sullivan's. If only other companies had the guts you guys have.

I just hope that the crew members who filled in on that ship during the strike are treated well by this company. These replacement crew members had the courage to step in there and keep the wheels in motion while the union did everything it could to bring it all to a stand still.OCI owes alot to these guys for stepping in there and keeping the profits rolling in.If these guys are thrown to the wolves now, what makes the union workers any better than scabs themselves?
