Pat mercier buffalo ny :

I don't understand why a bridge that is in such bad shape is allowed to stay open. How does one decide what is the exact weight the bridge will hold. Even the qualified people that say the bridge will hold depending on the weight can make a mistake. So are they willing to take the risk and hope for the best. Should be closed until repairs are done.

Proper signage might help get the message out :

I drove into placentia area this past weekend and maybe the people responsible for SINAGE for this "WEIGHT RESTRICTION" could consider making it KNOWN to drivers that the lift brigde actually has a weight restriction. I noticed ONE sign and it was placed almost right across from the alternate route (talk about giving drivers some notice) that is if they even had time to NOTICE and READ the ONE sign placed on the side of the road (PROPER SIGAGE might help this problem) !!

Jack :

Maybe if they have a reliable and paved diversion road, these truckers would not have been forced to break the rules.

Perhaps these drivers should watch the news.... :

I can't believe that they would put themselves at such high risk, anyone watching the news report on this bridge would be afraid to drive a vehicle across it, let alone, a part of a house. The driver has about as much sense as the government. If there is an alternate route, this bridge should be shut down.

Surebye :

Heading toward a month since "immediate repairs" were announced and no contractor on site. Given that cost and time very often go to at least 1.5 what is predicted this bridge will be "in slings" for the better part of the summer an then some. Get used to taking the long way around. Wouldn't surprise me if it becomes the permanent way.

Sue :

The flagmen/women there now are for "SCHOOL BUSES ONLY" they are NOT there to stop other traffic only when a school buses are crossing!

Fed Up :

I'm wondering what the government meant by "emergency repairs to begin immediately"?? This was the beginning of March and still no sign of anything. Maybe this will take them another 4 months to analyze their paper work before they commence. Appalling!!

Ladyday :

There should be security people on the bridge 24 hrs. & have the authority to stop vehicles that are over the weight limit from crossing and call the police .

Angry citizen :

people have no respect....there is a load restriction in place for a reason!!!! The money this area is making off people who work in the long harbour area is going to some peoples head.,. I heard that this is what these trucks were carrying these houses for to rent to people in long harbour...sickening it is...I watched this yesterday as well as alot of other residents in this area in disgust as these trucks go across this bridge stopping traffic..if they are allowed to do it then I guess all over trucks will start doing the same thing....glad they got fined for it, hope it was a hefty one too..
